Emory Roehrkasse, the heart and soul behind Follow My Lead, blends kindness, experience, and grace in every dance lesson. With twelve years of professional dance experience, Emory has transformed the dance community as both a teacher and performer. Since starting Follow My Lead in April 2023, Emory's journey has been one of exciting growth, now hosting group classes, performing at festivals nationwide, and offering private lessons weekly.
With twelve years of professional dance experience, Emory's influence transcends traditional studio boundaries. Emory has emceed and DJed at major events like Lindy on the Rocks, Balorado, and & All That Jazz, captivating large audiences with unwavering confidence. Their tenure at Fred Astaire Dance Studios saw them quickly grow their client base, teaching up to 40 lessons per week and ranking in the top 17% of sales nationwide within six months. Certified in 13 Ballroom dances, Emory fosters a nurturing learning environment infused with warmth and encouragement.
Emory has collaborated with eighteen different local dance companies in Houston, across Colorado, and the Bay Area, teaching and DJing for organizations like Swingin’ Denver and Rocky Mountain Swing Dance Club. Their versatility includes experience in exotic dance, heels, and floorwork. In 2023, Emory performed as a singer, dancer, and actor in 52 outdoor shows on a live steam engine during the Polar Express run at the Colorado Railroad Museum, portraying six different characters.
With expertise in 20 different dance styles, Emory specializes in Lindy Hop, Balboa, Blues, West Coast Swing, and Argentine Tango. Their teaching style is enriched by a background in opera and musical theatre, infusing sessions with a sense of dramatic flair and storytelling. Emory's public speaking, crowd management, and teaching skills make them a dynamic instructor, dedicated to building confident individuals ready to shine on and off the dance floor.
